Amaravati, Feb 28 (NationPress) A devastating explosion at a firecracker manufacturing facility near Samarlakota in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh has resulted in the tragic loss of at least 20 lives and left 15 others injured. The incident unfolded around 2 p.m. at Suryashri Fireworks, situated near the Godavari canal in Vetlapalem, according to police reports.

Labour Minister Vamsetti Subhash confirmed the fatalities, describing the event as deeply unfortunate. The explosion's force was so immense that it propelled the bodies of some workers into nearby agricultural fields.

The surrounding communities were engulfed in panic as large flames consumed the firecracker unit, producing thick smoke that was visible for miles. Witnesses reported that explosions could be heard as far as 5 kilometers away.

The blast shattered windows in nearby homes and even caused structural damage to a local school, leading to cracks in its walls.

Firefighters, equipped with two fire engines and additional resources, promptly arrived at the scene to combat the blaze, supported by law enforcement and other agencies.
