Labour Minister Vamsetti Subhash confirmed the unfortunate death toll of 20, while noting that 15 additional individuals were injured and transported to medical facilities. Reports indicate that a significant number of the casualties were women.
The force of the explosion was devastating, with bodies reportedly thrown into nearby agricultural fields. Local residents noted that the sound of the blasts could be heard from up to five kilometers away.
Nearby houses suffered shattered windows, and a school building developed cracks.
Firefighters arrived promptly with two engines and collaborated with police and other emergency services to control the situation. Senior officials, including the District Collector and Superintendent of Police, oversaw the rescue and relief operations.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his shock at the incident and instructed officials to enhance rescue efforts.
