Extortion Allegations: AAP's Naresh Balyan to Appear in Court Today

New Delhi, Dec 1 (NationPress) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan is scheduled to appear in front of a Delhi court on Sunday regarding a year-old extortion case tied to his purported connections with a gangster.
Balyan, who represents Uttam Nagar in West Delhi, was taken into custody on Saturday, shortly after the BJP unveiled an audio clip in which the AAP MLA allegedly conversed with gangster Kapil Sangwan, also known as Nandu, discussing threats and demands for ransom from a builder and other individuals in Delhi.
The crime branch obtained an audio recording of the dialogue with Nandu, who has since fled to London. Balyan was summoned for questioning at the crime branch's office located in RK Puram, South Delhi, and was subsequently detained.
Moreover, the Delhi Police's crime branch may request police remand for the MLA.
In the audio clips presented by the BJP during a press conference on Saturday, the gangster reportedly urged the AAP legislator to swiftly decide whether he wished to collaborate with him. However, authenticity of the audio clips remains unverified by IANS.
Delhi BJP President Virender Sachdeva claimed that the individual conversing with the AAP legislator in the audio clip is the London-based gangster Kapil Sangwan, originally from Najafgarh in West Delhi.
Accusing AAP leaders of engaging in extortion from business owners and builders in Delhi, BJP National Spokesman Gaurav Bhatia unveiled three audio clips during a press conference in New Delhi.
Bhatia labeled Balyan as an extortionist who has been intimidating builders with the approval of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and employing gangsters to extract protection fees from traders and builders.
The BJP representative also emphasized how, during discussions of extortion, the MLA and gangsters allegedly concurred to divide the extorted funds via hawala.
