Mumbai, March 26 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis instructed the state administration on Wednesday to prepare a proposal for creating a Public Health Infrastructure Corporation. This initiative aims to make the health department's schemes and facilities more accessible online, while also enhancing the infrastructure within the health sector.

He emphasized that quality health services should be available to citizens within a distance of at least 5 km.

During a meeting to assess the public health department's operations, he was joined by State Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif, Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, Minister of State for Health Meghna Bordikar, and Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik.

The Chief Minister highlighted the need for better cooperation between the Public Health Department and the Medical Education Department.

He stated, “Outdated practices must be updated. We should strive to provide maximum treatments at primary health centres across the state. Following Tamil Nadu's model, we should implement 13 different health services at primary health centres. The state government is committed to ensuring that citizens have easy and affordable access to health services. Agencies must conduct all necessary studies and provide detailed information promptly to facilitate this process. It is crucial to focus on increasing the number of specialist doctors, launching new facilities within the health department, and modernizing district and sub-district hospitals,” he added.

Chief Minister Fadnavis mentioned that attention must also be given to enhancing drug supply and equipment management, promoting the use of digital technology in healthcare, and expanding the number of government and private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat and state insurance schemes.

He stressed the importance of taking stringent measures to keep treatment costs manageable.

“We need to expand special health centres, mobile health units, and telemedicine services in tribal and remote regions, focusing on reforms in rural areas. Health services should be provided in collaboration with local authorities. Strict enforcement of regulations regarding private hospitals is essential. Additionally, health education and awareness campaigns must be organized for the public,” he noted.

He also directed the establishment of a dedicated system for managing health department data.
