New Delhi, Oct 1 (NationPress) Farmers have expressed their appreciation for the Central government's decision, led by PM Narendra Modi, to raise the minimum support price (MSP) on various rabi crops, with many calling it a Navratri gift as it enhances their income.
Jasvir Singh, a farmer from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, remarked to IANS that any increase in MSP is certainly a positive move for farmers.
"The government has raised the prices for crops this year; they did so last year as well, and I trust they will continue this trend in the future," he stated.
A higher price always brings joy to a farmer's household, he added.
Anurag Pawar, also from Shamli district, expressed gratitude towards the government for the price increase on rabi crops such as wheat, mustard, and others.
"The Modi government has been persistently raising the prices of both kharif and rabi crops since coming into power. Last year, the MSP for wheat was increased by Rs 85; this year, it's Rs 150," he noted.
Farmers from the Guna district in Madhya Pradesh have similarly praised the government's decision, indicating it demonstrates the government's commitment to their welfare.
Bhawani Shankar Sharma stated, "The Modi administration's decision regarding NSP is wholly favorable for farmers."
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accomplished significant work for farmers, and he continues to make efforts. They are currently benefiting from the PM Kisan Scheme and the PM Fasal Bima Yojana," Sharma remarked.
Narmada Shankar Bhargava emphasized that there couldn't be a more favorable decision for farmers than an annual price increase for their crops.
"I commend the Modi government's endeavors to meet the goal of doubling farmers' income," Bhargava added.
Meanwhile, farmers from the Basti district in Uttar Pradesh have labeled the Modi government's decision as a source of motivation for farmers.
Mangala Prasad Maurya noted that the MSP increase encourages farmers to take farming more seriously and boosts production.
Rammurat Chaudhary stated that while this government initiative is commendable, farmers should also have a say in determining prices.
Another farmer, Umesh Yadav, welcomed the decision but pointed out that unless the increase reflects actual costs incurred, farmers may remain unsatisfied.
