Kalaburagi (Karnataka), April 5 (NationPress) – In a devastating event, five individuals lost their lives while 11 others sustained injuries when a mini-bus collided with a stationary truck in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka during the early hours of Saturday.
The incident took place close to Nelogi Cross, near Jevargi town.
The deceased have been named as Wajid, Mehaboobi, Priyanka, Mehaboob, and one unidentified individual.
All victims hailed from the Navanagara area in Bagalkot district.
As per police reports, the victims were journeying in a mini-bus to pay respects at the renowned Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah located in Kalaburagi city.
The mini-bus carried a total of 31 passengers, with the injured being transported to the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Kalaburagi for medical care.
Local police from Nelogi swiftly arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation. Additional details surrounding the event are pending, and the precise cause of the accident remains undetermined.
In another unfortunate incident, four individuals perished on the spot when their vehicle was struck by a luxury bus operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, known as Airavat, on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway on Thursday.
This accident transpired at the highway exit near Tubinakere village, close to Mandya city.
The deceased have been identified as 51-year-old Satyananda Raje Urs, his 45-year-old wife Nischita, 62-year-old Chandru, and Chandru's 50-year-old wife Suvedini Rani.
According to law enforcement, the crash occurred when the car's driver, while navigating the expressway and attempting to exit to the service road, unexpectedly re-entered the highway, failing to notice the rapidly approaching bus.
The bus driver, unable to avert the collision, crashed into the car from behind, resulting in the tragic incident. The force of the impact was so intense that the car was utterly crushed, claiming the lives of all four occupants instantly, as reported by the police.
Authorities employed a crane to lift the car, which had become lodged beneath the bus, before recovering the bodies and transferring them to a local hospital's mortuary. This accident led to significant traffic congestion on the busy Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
