Bengaluru, May 8 (NationPress) In two separate devastating road accidents in Karnataka on Thursday, nine individuals, including three minors, tragically lost their lives, while another person remains in critical condition in Haveri and Bagalkot districts, according to an official report.
In the first incident, six people were killed, and one sustained serious injuries after a car collided with a truck from behind in the Byadagi police station jurisdiction of Haveri district. The injured individual was transported to the Haveri District Hospital, where their condition is critical.
This accident took place near Motebennur village in Byadagi taluk on National Highway 48. The victims were traveling in a luxurious Audi A6 with the registration number HR 26CJ5360. Given the registration details, police initially suspected that the deceased hailed from Haryana.
The deceased have been identified as 27-year-old Farhan, 16-year-old Ummi Shifa, 20-year-old Alisha, 17-year-old Phoola Khan, and 42-year-old Firoz. The identity of another victim is yet to be confirmed. Tashkin and Mehak are among the injured.
According to police, four of the deceased were residents of Siddeshwara Nagar in Ranibennur town, while the others were from Goa and Harihara town.

"Six individuals tragically died at the scene. Two others were taken to the hospital, with one in critical condition. The bodies have been moved to the mortuary. Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding may have contributed to the accident. Further inquiries are ongoing.”
The victims were reportedly visiting a relative's place in Ranibennur. On Thursday, relatives had organized a picnic and were traveling to a farmhouse in two vehicles. One of the cars had already reached Haveri city, while the other vehicle was involved in the accident just 15 minutes into their journey.
In another incident in Bagalkot district, three minors riding a bike unfortunately died on the spot after being struck by a canter vehicle.
The deceased have been identified as Santhosha Kudagi, Kamanna Kupali, and Siddu Raju Gani, all aged 16 years. This accident took place at the Simikeri Bypass in Bagalkot taluk. All the victims hailed from Muranala village.
The minors were riding a motorcycle from Gaddanakeri Cross through Hubballi to attend a DJ procession organized for the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. Police have secured CCTV footage of the incident.
The accident occurred when the bike attempted to overtake the canter vehicle, resulting in the rider losing control. After colliding with passersby, the bike spun out of control, and all three riders fell under the canter. The police noted that none of them were wearing helmets.
