Yadgir, April 11 (NationPress) In a tragic road incident, four individuals, including three women from the same family, lost their lives after a collision occurred between a goods vehicle and a Road Transport Corporation bus on Friday in Yadgir district, Karnataka.
The collision transpired on the national highway near Muddaraki in Shahapur taluk, resulting in the deaths of 30-year-old Sharanappa, 19-year-old Sunitha, 50-year-old Somavva, and 55-year-old Tangamma, all from Varkanahalli near Yadgir.
As per police reports, the victims were en route to visit the Bhagyavanthi Temple in Ghattaragi near Kalaburagi.
Three of the victims died instantly at the scene, while one succumbed to injuries later at the hospital.
Other individuals in the goods vehicle sustained injuries and were taken to the local hospital for treatment.
Yadgir SP Pruthvik Shakar swiftly arrived at the site of the accident.
Initial investigations indicate that the head-on crash between the two vehicles was a result of reckless and negligent driving.
However, authorities stated that the precise cause of the accident will be established through further inquiries.
In a separate tragic event on April 5, five lives were lost and 11 others were injured when a mini-bus collided with a stationary truck in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka during the early hours. This incident occurred near Nelogi Cross, close to Jevargi town.
The victims were on their way to visit the renowned Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah in Kalaburagi.
The injured were transported to the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Kalaburagi for medical assistance.
In another unfortunate incident, four individuals heading to a relative's funeral were killed instantly when their car was struck by a luxury bus operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, known as Airavat, on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway on April 3.
This accident took place at the highway exit near Tubinakere village, in proximity to Mandya city.
According to preliminary investigations, the accident occurred when the car driver attempted to exit onto the service road but suddenly re-entered the highway, failing to notice the approaching speeding bus from behind.
