Chamarajanagar, March 1 (NationPress) A tragic incident unfolded as five devotees journeying to Male Mahadeshwara Hills lost their lives in a head-on crash involving their vehicle and a truck in Chikkindewadi village, located in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district on Saturday.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed. However, authorities, using the car's registration details, speculate that the victims hail from the Mandya district.

Reports indicate that all five individuals, including two women, were en route to the well-known pilgrimage destination of Male Mahadeshwara Hills.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the collision may have been a result of overspeeding.

The impact of the crash was so intense that the car was propelled into an adjacent agricultural field, rolling over multiple times and resulting in the deaths of all five passengers.

The force of the collision was so great that it sheared off a nearby tree. The car was left in ruins, complicating the efforts of authorities to recover the bodies trapped in the wreckage.

Law enforcement noted that this stretch of road is notorious for its many curves and hazardous turns.

The Kollegal Rural Police have launched an investigation into the matter, with further updates anticipated.
