Amaravati, March 4 (NationPress) Tragically, five members of a family lost their lives when their vehicle collided with a truck in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, according to police reports.
The incident took place on the Bengaluru-Chennai national highway, close to the Dundapalli cross in the Gangavaram mandal.
As per authorities, the car struck the moving truck from behind. All five individuals in the car died instantly.
The victims, who resided in the Rajaji Nagar area of Bengaluru, were en route to Tirumala for a religious pilgrimage.
The truck was on its way to Kurnool after delivering cement at Palamaneru.
The deceased have been identified as Mohan Das, 71, Nagaraja Rao, 61, Kusuma, 61, Jayanti, 59, and Puja, 33.
Authorities have transported the bodies for post-mortem examinations. Gangavaram Circle Inspector Rambhupal stated that a case has been registered, and the investigation is underway.
In a separate incident in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, a car caught fire. This occurred on the National Highway near Nandikandi in the Sadashivpet mandal when the vehicle ignited. Upon noticing the smoke, the driver promptly parked the car by the roadside and exited.
The vehicle, which was heading towards Sadashivpet, was completely consumed by the flames. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Meanwhile, ten devotees were injured after falling into a coal fire during a temple fair in Telangana’s Nalgonda district on Wednesday.
This unfortunate event happened during the Aggigundalu (firewalking) ritual, part of the Sri Parvathi Jadala Ramalingeshwara Swamy Kalayanotsavam at Amangal in Vemulapalle. As the procession carrying a religious symbol passed over the coal fire, devotees jostled, leading to several falling into the flames. At least ten devotees suffered burn injuries, and police transported them to a government hospital.
Aggigundalu is regarded as one of the primary rituals of the annual fair, attracting a significant number of participants.
