Police reports indicate that the tragedy unfolded due to a head-on collision between a car and a truck.
The victims were identified as Shweta (29), Anjali (26), Sandeep (26), Vittal (55), and Shashikala (40). All were residents of Sagar town in Karnataka's Shivamogga district.
Initial investigations suggest they were en route from Shivamogga to Bagalkot.
The Hubballi Rural Police promptly arrived at the scene and transferred the bodies to the mortuary. Ongoing investigations aim to determine the specific cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
