Tragic Road Mishaps Claim Nine Lives in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Dec 21 (NationPress) A tragic series of road accidents resulted in the deaths of nine individuals, comprising two children and three students, in separate incidents reported from Bengaluru Rural and Mandya districts in Karnataka on Saturday.
In the first incident, six people lost their lives instantly on the Bengaluru-Pune National Highway-4 near Taalekere village, situated close to T. Begur near Nelamangala town on the outskirts of Bengaluru. A container truck overturned and crushed their vehicle.
All six victims were from the same family, including two children. They were identified as Yagappa Gol (48), Gowra Bai (42), Deeksha (12), Jaan (16), Vijayalaxmi (36), and Ayra (6), all residents of Vijayapura district.
The police reported that the family was enjoying a weekend trip when the horrific accident took place. The incident occurred after the truck driver lost control, leading to the tragic overturning of the vehicle and the subsequent crushing of the car.
This collision also caused a 10-kilometer-long traffic jam on the national highway. The force of the crash was so intense that three cranes were needed to lift the container and recover the bodies trapped beneath it. Notably, the family had acquired the vehicle merely six months earlier.
In a statement to the media, the truck driver, Arif, who is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, expressed that the accident occurred while he was attempting to avoid a collision with a car ahead of him.
“I was driving from Dabaspet town towards Bengaluru. While attempting to steer clear of the car in front of me, my truck crossed the divider and flipped over. The accident was a result of the vehicle ahead. I am profoundly saddened by this incident. I cannot recall anything immediately after the crash. When I regained my senses, the car was trapped under the truck,” he explained.
In a separate accident, three students met with fatal consequences, while another was critically injured on National Highway 209 near Bosegowdanadoddi, adjacent to Mandya city, on Saturday.
The deceased were recognized as Pranav, Akash, and Adarsh, while Pruthvi remains in critical condition.
The victims were traveling from Bengaluru to the popular tourist destination Talakadu in Mysuru district. According to police reports, the fatal accident occurred when their car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction after overtaking an RTC bus. This incident fell within the jurisdiction of the Malavalli police station.
