Fatehpur Experiences Frigid 1.1 Degrees as Cold Wave Hits Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jan 8 (NationPress) Under the spell of a cold wave affecting Rajasthan, Fatehpur in the eastern part of the state and Nagaur in the west have reported the lowest temperatures in the desert region in the past day.
Fatehpur recorded a chilling minimum temperature of 1.1 degrees Celsius, while Nagaur logged a low of 1.7 degrees.
According to R.S Sharma, the head of the Meteorological (MeT) Department in Jaipur, "A cold wave has been noted across many regions of the state. Northerly winds have amplified the chill during the mornings and evenings in Rajasthan. With the exception of two cities, most areas in the state recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C on Tuesday, remaining in single digits.
The highest maximum temperature was noted at 24.6 degrees Celsius in Rai Bandh (Pal), while the lowest minimum temperature was reported as 1.1° degrees in Fatehpur, he added.
A yellow alert for cold wave conditions has been issued for eight districts on Wednesday -- Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Nagaur, Alwar, Bharatpur, and Dausa.
Weather experts anticipate an active western disturbance affecting the northwestern regions of the state starting on the evening of January 10. This disturbance could bring cloud cover and light rain to parts of the Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions on January 10 and 11, just before Makar Sankranti.
In the past 24 hours, all cities in the state, except for Kota and Dholpur, recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees.
Some notable minimum temperatures recorded include 5.2 degrees in Mount Abu, 4.4 in Fatehpur, 4.2 in Sirohi, and 5.9 in Chittorgarh.
Other recorded temperatures include 6.5 degrees in Jodhpur, 6.6 in Jaisalmer, 6.7 in Jalore, 10 in Kota, 10.6 in Dholpur, 5.4 in Ajmer, 4.6 in Bhilwara, 6.4 in Jaipur, 5.5 in Pilani, and 2.8 in Karauli.
Despite the morning chill, northeastern Rajasthan experienced some warmth on Tuesday due to clear skies.
The maximum temperature in Ganganagar rose by 5.9 degrees to 21.2, while Alwar saw a notable increase of 9.8 degrees, reaching 24.
Meanwhile, maximum temperatures were recorded at 20.1 degrees in Jaipur, 18 in Sikar, 20.3 in Kota, 22 in Udaipur, 22.2 in Jodhpur, 22.5 in Jaisalmer, 21 in Bikaner, and 20.3 in Ajmer.
The weather is expected to stay dry across the state on January 9, providing some relief from the cold wave in various northeastern districts. However, on January 10-11, cloud cover, thundershowers, and light rainfall are likely in parts of the Bikaner, Bharatpur, Jaipur, and Ajmer divisions.
