Severe Cold Wave Hits Rajasthan, Visibility Drops Below 30 Metres Due to Dense Fog

Jaipur, Dec 30 (NationPress) As a thick blanket of fog covers the state of Rajasthan, visibility in various cities has plummeted to less than 30 metres.

Urban areas such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Churu, Sriganganagar, Barmer, Kota, Ajmer, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Jhunjhunu, Sawai Madhopur, and Sikar are facing heavy fog, and the temperature has dropped significantly, resulting in an intense cold wave. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for fog and cold wave conditions across 12 districts.

The lowest temperature recorded was in Sirohi in eastern Rajasthan at 5.2 degrees Celsius, while Jaisalmer in western Rajasthan recorded a minimum of 5.5 degrees Celsius.

Many cities reported minimum temperatures ranging from 5 to 9 degrees Celsius. Specifically, Ajmer noted a low of 6.2 degrees Celsius, Bhilwara recorded 6 degrees Celsius, Alwar at 9.5 degrees Celsius, Jaipur at 7.2 degrees Celsius, Pilani at 8.0 degrees Celsius, Sikar at 6.8 degrees Celsius, Chittaurgarh at 5.3 degrees Celsius, and Dungarpur at 9 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, intermittent rain and hailstorms have exacerbated the cold wave in Rajasthan. The minimum night temperatures in numerous cities, including Jaipur, Sikar, Churu, and Ajmer, decreased by 6 degrees Celsius, leading to severe cold conditions on Monday morning.

Weather analysts forecast that the cold wave will persist in Rajasthan for the next 3-4 days, with a potential drop in minimum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, the highest temperature of the day reached 25.8 degrees Celsius in Phalodi. The maximum temperatures were reported as follows: Barmer at 24.8 degrees Celsius, Jalore at 24 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur both at 23 degrees Celsius, Chittorgarh at 22.6 degrees Celsius, Dungarpur at 21.8 degrees Celsius, Jaipur at 17.9 degrees Celsius, Ajmer at 19.3 degrees Celsius, Alwar at 17.2 degrees Celsius, Udaipur at 20.7 degrees Celsius, and Kota at 20.3 degrees Celsius.
