Bidar (Karnataka), Feb 8 (NationPress) A disturbing event has emerged in Karnataka's Bidar district where a father brutally murdered his daughter after she rejected his advice to terminate a romantic relationship. The tragic incident occurred in Baragen Tanda, Aurad taluq, and the victim has been identified as 18-year-old Monika Motiram Jadhav. Following the crime, the suspect fled the scene, prompting a police search.

As per police reports, Monika was in love, and upon discovering this, her father urged her to abandon the relationship, promising to arrange a marriage with someone from a more suitable background. However, she firmly disagreed, asserting her right to choose her partner.

This enraged the father, who then fatally attacked her when no one else was at home, leading to severe injuries and significant blood loss.

Her mother, Baghu Bai, subsequently filed a complaint at the Santapura police station.

Earlier on January 30, the Gadag District and Sessions Court sentenced four men to death for their involvement in another honor killing case. These individuals had viciously assaulted and killed a couple, Ramesh Madara and Gangamma Rathod, due to their inter-caste marriage.

This appalling incident unfolded in Lakkalakati village, near Gajendragarh, during the couple's visit home for Diwali celebrations. Gangamma’s brothers forcibly entered their home, dragging the couple outside and brutally attacking them in front of their children, using knives and other weapons. This heinous act shocked the state and raised alarm over the issue of honor killings. The police later apprehended the suspects.

The crime took place on November 6, 2019, and Madara’s family filed a complaint with the Gajendragarh police. The police initiated a case under several IPC sections including 427 (mischief causing damage), 449 (house trespass with intent to commit a serious crime), 302 (murder), and 506(2) (criminal intimidation). After thorough investigations, a charge sheet was presented against the accused.

The victims, Gangamma, 24, and Madar, 29, had fallen in love and wed on April 2, 2017, at a sub-registrar's office, despite parental opposition. Gangamma belonged to the Banjara community, while Madara was from the Scheduled Caste community.

Following their marriage, the couple relocated to Shivamogga and built their life there.

They were blessed with two children—a three-year-old son and a two-month-old daughter.
