New Delhi, July 4 (NationPress) The definitive Electoral Rolls for Bihar are set to be released on September 30, enabling voters to lodge appeals concerning the list with district magistrates and the Chief Electoral Officer, according to an official from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Approximately five percent of the completed and signed forms—around 38 lakh—have already been submitted by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who finalized their inaugural visit to nearly 1.5 crore households in the state, the official reported.
As part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative, Enumeration Forms (totaling 6.86 crore) have been distributed to 87 percent of nearly 7.90 crore electors in Bihar, as recorded on June 24, he mentioned.
The remaining households might be inaccessible, featuring deceased electors, migrants, or those who are currently traveling. The official noted that since the BLOs will visit the homes of electors three times during this exercise, these numbers are likely to rise.
Electors can also download the partially filled forms from the ECI portal (https://voters.eci.gov.in) or on the ECINET App, allowing them to upload their completed forms through the app.
Additionally, 1,54,977 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by various political parties are actively assisting in the SIR process.
As of July 2, the BJP has designated 52,689 BLAs, followed by 47,504 from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, 34,669 from the Janata Dal (United), 16,500 from Congress, 1,913 from the Rashtriya Lok Jan Shakti Party, 1,271 from the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI(ML)L), 1,153 from the Lok Jan Shakti Party (Ram Vilas), 578 from CPI(M), and 270 from the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party, among others. Each BLA is permitted to submit up to 50 certified forms daily, said the official.
According to SIR guidelines, to have one's name included in the Draft Electoral Roll to be published on August 1, it is essential for an elector to sign and submit the pre-printed Enumeration Form by July 25.
Simultaneous verification of the uploaded forms has also commenced. Despite concerns raised, SIR is designed to guarantee the inclusion of all eligible individuals.
Verification will be conducted continuously based on whether the attached documents are present or absent with the signed Enumeration Form, as stated by an official.
Verification efforts will intensify from August 2, following the publication of the Draft Electoral Rolls. Based on these published Draft Electoral Rolls, claims and objections will be accepted from political parties and the public starting August 2.
