Jaipur, Aug 6 (IANS) In a disturbing event underscoring concerns over passenger safety, two foreign tourists fell victim to robbery on the Mandore Express, which was en route from Delhi to Jodhpur. The incident occurred late last night, as the train traversed through Rajasthan, officials reported on Wednesday.
Sources revealed that the tourists boarded the train from Jaipur. Shortly after departing, they realized that two bags, positioned near their seats in the First AC coach, had been taken.
The stolen belongings included Rs 2 lakh in cash, Apple AirPods, an Apple Pencil, and crucial documents.
“We were asleep and woke up to find our bags missing. Everything important was inside -- money, gadgets, papers,” recounted the victims.
They swiftly notified the train's Ticket Examiner and security personnel.
Upon reaching Jodhpur Railway Station, the tourists lodged an FIR at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) police station.
Both the RPF and the Government Railway Police (GRP) have initiated an investigation.
Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Vikas Kheda visited the station to meet with the victims.
“This is a serious matter. An investigation has been launched, and the culprits will be arrested soon,” he reassured the foreign tourists.
Kheda also questioned how such a theft could transpire in the First AC coach, which is typically monitored by the GRP.
Nonetheless, he stated that a rigorous investigation is underway to apprehend the offenders.
The railway team promptly arrived at the scene to investigate and is following all necessary protocols to capture the accused.
This incident has raised significant concerns regarding onboard security and the safety of international travelers on Indian trains, remarked fellow passengers.
Officials are currently analyzing CCTV footage and coach rosters to track down the thieves, and they have assured that the culprits will be apprehended shortly.
