Kolkata, Nov 20 (NationPress) Discontented Trinamool Congress MLA from Bharatpur, Humayun Kabir, announced that the foundation stone for the 'Babri Masjid' will be laid in Murshidabad's Beldanga on December 6. This date coincides with the gathering of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress’s all-India General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, in Kolkata, marking the anniversary of the Babri Mosque demolition.

In light of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative in West Bengal, CM Mamata Banerjee along with Abhishek Banerjee will participate in the 'Samhati Diwas' (Unity Day) rally in Kolkata to promote unity and communal harmony.

During a media interaction on Thursday morning, Kabir expressed that he would be unable to partake in the Trinamool's Kolkata event on December 6, as he will be preoccupied with the foundation stone ceremony.

"The foundation of Babri Masjid will be laid on December 6. I will not be able to attend the Unity Day rally. On that day, religious leaders from the Islamic community will be present, including one from Medina. Many will also arrive from Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. I will also notify Abbas Siddiqui (a cleric from Furfura Sharif and founder of the Indian Secular Front) to attend my event," stated Kabir.

He further noted, "I identify as a Muslim. The demolition of Babri Masjid was a conspiracy. I anticipate around 200,000 attendees at the foundation stone laying ceremony in Beldanga, with participants not just from Murshidabad but also from North Bengal and Birbhum district."

Kabir revealed that he has marked December 6 as a black day annually since the mosque's demolition in 1992.

This is not the first instance where the Bharatpur MLA has contradicted his party leadership or made contentious remarks.

Earlier this month, Kabir threatened to establish a new party in anticipation of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly polls.

Over the past year, the Trinamool MLA has persistently challenged the party on numerous issues, often targeting senior leaders and becoming a source of unease.

It's worth mentioning that he has previously criticized Baharampur Trinamool MP Yusuf Pathan.

Kabir has faced reprimands from the Trinamool Congress leadership multiple times and has even received show-cause notices for statements that embarrassed the party. Nonetheless, he continues to make bold remarks.
