Srinagar, May 28 (NationPress) Four individuals involved in drug trafficking were apprehended in the Sopore region of Jammu and Kashmir, according to a police report released on Wednesday. Authorities confirmed that various narcotic substances were seized from their possession.

“Acting on credible information provided by local residents, Sopore Police initiated a series of strategically planned operations that resulted in the arrest of four drug traffickers along with the confiscation of narcotics, including codeine-based syrup and a substance resembling brown sugar,” the police stated.

Three distinct FIRs have been filed under pertinent sections of the NDPS Act.

In one operation at Adipora Crossing, a suspect named Rameez Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir and a resident of Adipora Sopore, was detained with 13 bottles of a codeine-like liquid that had altered labels. In a separate operation, Waseem Ahmad Mir, also a resident of Adipora Sopore and son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, was caught at the Malpora-Warpora Crossing while attempting to evade a police checkpoint. He was found in possession of a quantity of a substance resembling brown sugar.

Another significant arrest occurred at Chijhama Crossing, where two individuals, Javid Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Subhan Bhat, and Rayees Ahmad Baba, son of Bashir Ahmad Baba, both from Marzipora, were captured while transporting codeine-based substances in a truck (JK05E-4845), which was also confiscated.
