Kolar (Karnataka), March 3 (NationPress) A tragic road accident in Karnataka's Kolar district resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals, including a two-year-old child, and left four others injured on Monday morning.
The collision took place on the newly opened Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway.
The victims have been identified as Mahesh, aged 45, Udvita, the two-year-old, and Ratnamma, aged 60, all passengers in an Innova car. The identity of the deceased motorcyclist remains unknown.
The injured parties -- Sushmita, Viruta, Sujata, and Sunil -- were transported to a private hospital in Kolar. According to police reports, the deceased individuals were residents of Kammasandra village, near KGF in Kolar district. They were en route to their village from Bengaluru when the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Bangarapet police station.
The accident unfolded when a motorcycle collided with the car near Kuppanahalli in Bangarapet taluk. All four victims, including the motorcyclist, died at the scene. Authorities have indicated that overspeeding was the primary factor behind the accident.
In another incident on Saturday, five devotees lost their lives in a head-on collision between their vehicle and a truck in Chikkindewadi village, located in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district.
All five victims, among them two women, were on their way to the revered pilgrimage site of Male Mahadeshwara Hills.
Police suspect that overspeeding contributed to this tragic accident as well.
