New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) The future of the INDIA bloc is shrouded in uncertainty as leaders from opposing parties present differing opinions regarding its viability.

Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain defended the coalition, asserting, "This alliance was established before the parliamentary elections specifically for that purpose. In broad terms, the ideology and political stance of Congress oppose right-wing politics in our nation. This coalition was designed as a platform for that. For the time being, coalition politics will persist in the country for a while."

Conversely, Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande adopted a critical viewpoint, claiming that the alliance was never genuinely unified.

"Congress, AAP, and Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool party (TMC) are factions with opposing ideologies. While they may have united during specific elections for political expediency, at their core, they were never truly cohesive. Their outcome will mirror those who unite solely for political gains," she stated.

The discussion surrounding the alliance’s stability has escalated following the Delhi elections and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's recent declaration to run independently in the 2026 West Bengal elections.

The TMC chief criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for the Opposition’s setbacks in the Delhi and Haryana Assembly elections, dismissing the prospect of any alliance with Congress for the upcoming polls in West Bengal.

Congress encountered significant backlash after failing to secure any seats in the Delhi elections, with the INDIA bloc unable to contest jointly despite being allies.

Senior Congress figure Tariq Anwar also challenged the party’s strategies, advocating for essential organizational reforms.

In response, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal recognized the validity of these concerns, noting, "I find merit in what Tariq Anwar has said. However, these issues should have been addressed when Kejriwal was nominating candidates in Haryana, Goa, Gujarat, or Karnataka. Nonetheless, this matter requires discussion."

The ambiguity surrounding the INDIA Alliance raises significant questions about the trajectory of Opposition politics in the country.
