New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) Congress Member of Parliament and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressed his thoughts on the recent election outcomes, stating on Saturday that he graciously acknowledges the verdict of Delhi, emphasizing that the struggle for the rights of Delhi residents will persist.
In a post on X, the Congress leader conveyed, "We graciously accept the mandate of Delhi. Sincere gratitude to all Congress workers in the state for their commitment and to all the voters for their backing. This struggle for Delhi's advancement and the rights of its citizens—against pollution, inflation, and corruption—will endure."
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera also shared his views on the Delhi election results.
He remarked in a post on X, "The disintegration of a segment of so-called liberals is utterly strange. They did not offer these lectures on opposition unity to AAP when the party contested elections in Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, etc., to undermine the anti-communal, secular vote."
He asserted that the Delhi election outcome was a dismissal of the Trojan horse that aimed to harm the liberal cause nationwide.
"The majority of liberals are justly celebrating the collapse of the facade, allowing the true champion of liberal values—the Indian National Congress—to emerge stronger to challenge the BJP and defeat it," he added.
Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav also took to X to respond to the election results.
"The outcomes of the Delhi Assembly elections clearly indicate that the people of Delhi have rejected Arvind Kejriwal's politics of lies and deceit."
"All the members of the Congress organization fought valiantly for justice, but the results did not favor us. We will assess our shortcomings and mistakes and will continue to serve the people of Delhi, standing with them at all times. The people's mandate is paramount," he remarked.
According to the Delhi election results, the BJP is on track for a significant victory in Delhi after 26 years.
After several hours of vote counting, the BJP was leading in 47 out of 70 seats, while AAP was ahead in 23. The Congress appeared set for another disappointing performance.
