Thiruvananthapuram, March 14 (NationPress) The recent decision by the Nair Service Society (NSS) to dissolve its Pathanapuram Taluk Union has thrown Kerala Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar back into the spotlight amid a new controversy, closely following a public marital dispute that has already captured political interest ahead of the Assembly elections.

Ganesh Kumar served as the president of the now-dissolved Union, a position once held by his late father, the esteemed politician R. Balakrishna Pillai.

This situation is particularly noteworthy as Ganesh Kumar is anticipated to run for re-election from the Pathanapuram Assembly Constituency, a seat he has held since his electoral entry in 2001.

The NSS registrar took action to dissolve the Pathanapuram Taluk Union after reports indicated a loss of majority within the committee, attributed to the resignation of several members amidst claims of autocratic leadership.

In response to this action, Ganesh Kumar expressed confusion over his dismissal, especially since he had indicated a willingness to resign voluntarily.

He asserted that NSS general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair is akin to a father figure to him and pledged to never oppose him.

Nonetheless, the minister suggested that these developments were politically motivated, hinting at efforts to seize control of the union’s assets.

“My father established the Pathanapuram NSS Taluk Union from humble beginnings and nurtured it for 64 years. What we are witnessing now is a move to take control of those assets,” he claimed.

Ganesh Kumar refuted allegations of corruption, stating that he has managed crores of rupees in various government roles and had no incentive to engage in bribery.

“Even as a pre-degree student, I drove an air-conditioned car. During my acting career, I traveled in a Mercedes-Benz when even the local superstars did not own one,” he noted.

Furthermore, he denied any claims of financial misconduct related to the construction of the ‘Padma Cafe’ at the union headquarters in Punalur, labeling the accusations as unfounded.

This controversy arose shortly after his wife publicly accused him of having an extramarital affair, only to later retract her statements and reveal that she had chosen to forgive him.

As the Assembly elections loom, these dual controversies—his personal family strife and the internal issues within the NSS he led—have injected an unanticipated political twist in Pathanapuram, a constituency that Ganesh Kumar has represented for over two decades.
