Guwahati, July 28 (NationPress) As Parliament prepares for a crucial discussion on 'Operation Sindoor', Congress MP and President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Gaurav Gogoi, has emphasized the need for complete transparency from the Union government.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi on Monday, Gogoi stated, "The government must be forthright. The citizens of India are entitled to know the facts surrounding Operation Sindoor."

He further mentioned that the Congress will present a list of its appointed speakers to the Speaker's Office prior to the session.

This statement comes in light of increasing anticipation regarding the Centre's justification for India's military reaction to the Pahalgam terror attack.

When questioned about senior Congress figure P. Chidambaram's recent remarks — in which the former Union Minister asserted there was "no evidence" linking the Pahalgam attackers to Pakistan — Gogoi chose not to elaborate, indicating that Chidambaram would clarify his position himself.

Gogoi also referred to a petition endorsed by several Congress MPs addressing concerns regarding Justice Verma and allegations related to former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

"We believe this matter warrants thorough discussion. The government must articulate its stance clearly," he asserted.

The discourse in the Lok Sabha is part of a 16-hour debate scheduled across both Houses of Parliament.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is anticipated to spearhead the debate, with significant contributions expected from Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and BJP leaders Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the Lok Sabha during the discussion and is also expected to speak in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

His comments may address the Opposition's demand for direct responses, especially considering former US President Donald Trump's assertion that he facilitated a ceasefire between India and Pakistan post the Pahalgam incident.

The INDIA bloc is gearing up for a pointed response, with Samajwadi Party leaders Akhilesh Yadav and MP Rajeev Rai set to deliver remarks.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), given 30 minutes, will be represented by MPs Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu and GM Harish Balayogi.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that Operation Sindoor will be prioritized during Monday's agenda.

"All parties have been notified. Other subjects, such as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, will be discussed later. Our primary focus is on India's response to terrorism," Rijiju noted.
