Did N. Biren Singh Join Assam CM in Criticizing Gaurav Gogoi Over Op Sindoor Remarks?

Imphal/Guwahati, July 29 (NationPress) Following the remarks of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the former Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, vehemently criticized Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress MP, for what he termed as the latter's ignorance regarding modern warfare.

Singh, a prominent leader from the BJP and an MLA, expressed his concerns on his X handle, stating, "The ignorance displayed by Opposition leader, Shri Gaurav Gogoi, regarding modern warfare is alarming. Questioning why our fighter jets did not engage at a closer range overlooks the strategic brilliance of long-range precision strikes, which safeguarded our soldiers and ensured mission success."

He added, "Mocking our valiant defenders, who are tirelessly serving on the frontline, is not only unbecoming of a political figure but also a disservice to the nation they protect. It is truly disheartening to acknowledge that he hails from the Northeast."

During a special discussion on Operation Sindoor, Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi accused the government of withholding vital information regarding the April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, primarily tourists.

He questioned how five heavily armed terrorists managed to infiltrate and execute the attack despite India's extensive surveillance and intelligence capabilities.

A three-time MP from Assam and the President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Gogoi asserted, "The government must be transparent. The people of India deserve clarity on the truth behind Operation Sindoor."

In his earlier post on X, CM Sarma remarked, "The statements made by our MP from Jorhat in Parliament yesterday confirmed beyond doubt that he represents Pakistan's interests. His undisclosed visits and close associations with the Pakistani establishment are telling. With his wife and children holding foreign citizenship, he can exit India at any moment. He is a disgrace to Assam and a betrayal of our pride as Indians."

CM Sarma has persistently targeted Gogoi in recent months, alleging that his wife, Elizabeth Colburn, has connections with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

However, Gogoi has consistently denied such allegations.

These remarks from the Assam Chief Minister and the former Chief Minister of Manipur follow Gogoi's critique of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a parliamentary debate on 'Operation Sindoor,' where he highlighted the government's lack of response to key questions regarding the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, along with concerns over internal security lapses and the government's silence regarding the attack's origins.
