Jaipur, April 11 (NationPress) Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has fiercely criticized BJP leader and former CM Vasundhara Raje regarding her recent comments on the water shortage in Jhalawar. Gehlot accused Raje of confining her concerns to her own constituency and dismissed the credibility of the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) and the Parwan-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) initiative, labeling them as "groundless".
“Having served as Chief Minister twice, Vasundhara Raje is well aware that the ERCP and PKC initiatives are not founded on any solid basis,” Gehlot asserted, adding, “Now she admits that no significant progress will be made for at least nine years. Why mislead the public?”
Gehlot has urged Raje to come forward and clarify the status of these projects publicly. “If she possesses any political integrity, she should hold a press conference and inform the public whether these projects, many of which were initiated during her administration, truly have any merit,” he stated.
Raje had recently voiced her distress over the water crisis in Jhalawar, stating, "The officers are sleeping, the people are crying, I will not allow this to continue."
Gehlot criticized Raje for her narrow focus on Jhalawar. “My concern with Raje is that despite being in leadership roles twice, she consistently talks only about Jhalawar. That is not what true leadership looks like.”
Gehlot made these remarks in Jaipur after paying floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary.
In response to the controversy involving BJP leader Gyandev Ahuja, who allegedly sprinkled Gangajal in a temple in Alwar to purify it after Congress leader Tikaram Jully, a Dalit, entered, Gehlot vehemently denounced the action.
“We all abhor such actions. Untouchability is a stain on humanity, particularly in the 21st century. The RSS should spearhead a campaign against it. The nation is weary of the BJP ideology,” he remarked.
He called on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to take decisive measures. “If Dalits, Adivasis, and tribals are all Hindus, then who is accountable for untouchability? The RSS supports the BJP government. What better moment than now for it to initiate a campaign for its complete eradication?”
