New Delhi, June 6 (NationPress) In a pointed criticism aimed at Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi prior to his Bihar visit, Union Minister Giriraj Singh has accused him of showing a lack of respect for the Indian military and of aligning his rhetoric with the nation’s adversaries. Singh asserted that the public will not rally behind Gandhi.
While addressing journalists, Singh questioned, “What can we expect from the Bihar visit?”
“The individual heading to Bihar is one who has consistently opposed the Indian armed forces and sought to tarnish their image globally. He has even belittled the valor of our security forces, an act that can be deemed treasonous. His rhetoric is akin to that of Pakistan,” he charged.
Taking the argument further, Singh accused Gandhi of casting doubt on the integrity of the armed forces and undermining national pride.
“He raises questions about our military’s bravery, which amounts to betrayal. His choice of words reflects that of Pakistan. The people will protest his visit, and in the forthcoming elections, who would support someone who disrespects the military or the nation?” Singh remarked.
He also drew a comparison between Gandhi and former leaders who stood united during times of national crisis.
“In 1971, when the Indian Army achieved victory, did Indira Gandhi emerge as the winner or did the Army? Even Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while in Opposition, proclaimed that there was only one party now, India. However, this man ridicules the nation’s courage. Such a figure should be shunned,” Singh expressed.
Similarly, BJP’s Bihar State President Dilip Jaiswal criticized the Congress party’s attempt to label Rahul Gandhi as 'Jan Nayak.'
“This is absurd. In Bihar and this nation, the genuine 'Jan Nayak' is Karpoori Thakur. We have always revered him with that title. The Congress is attempting to usurp that identity and impose it on Rahul Gandhi, which will never be accepted,” Jaiswal emphasized.
“Karpoori Thakur will eternally be Bihar’s 'Jan Nayak'. No one else can claim that legacy. The people of Bihar will not stand for this political misappropriation,” he added.
Gandhi's visit to Bihar occurs at a significant moment as both the BJP and Congress ramp up their political messaging ahead of the next elections.
He is scheduled for a day-long engagement in Bihar on Friday, during which he will meet with various women’s groups in the Gayaji district and participate in events in Nalanda, among other activities.
