New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) On Friday, the government announced the creation of nine new technology centres as part of the Technology Centre Systems Programme (TCSP) aimed at delivering technical and skill development support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
An allocation of Rs 200 crore has been earmarked for their establishment and ongoing operations during the financial year 2025–26, as stated by Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for MSME, in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
This addition brings the total number of Technology Centres to 27, which have successfully trained over 3.28 lakh individuals, including entrepreneurs and employees of MSMEs, in the 2024–25 period, she noted.
The Technology Centres are facilitating specialized skill development programs in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). These modules have also been integrated into regular long-term and short-term training programs to enhance MSME skill development.
The objective of these centres is to assist industries, particularly MSMEs in the nation, by providing access to state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and offering skill development opportunities for the youth, catering to a broad spectrum from school dropouts to graduate engineers.
Moreover, they provide essential technical and business advisory support to MSME entrepreneurs.
The TCSP initiative aims to foster an innovative ecosystem through the establishment of physical infrastructure, including technology centres.
Additionally, it collaborates with world-class Manufacturing Technology Partners (MTPs) to enhance the technical capabilities of sector-specific TCs, thereby improving support for MSMEs.
Furthermore, the initiative is focused on creating a portal and implementing a centralized Technology Centre ERP solution to develop a vibrant technology platform that addresses the diverse needs of MSMEs and streamlines all major TC functions.
