New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has taken aim at Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his accusations regarding the India-US trade agreement, calling them 'unfounded' and labeling him a 'habitual liar.'

In a video message shared on the social media platform X, Goyal stated, “Annadata Devo Bhava! Under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi ji, our farmers will always be safe, empowered, and thriving.”

He further accused Rahul Gandhi of disseminating false information and misleading farmers.

“Rahul Gandhi is a habitual liar. He shows no regard for Maa Bharat or the welfare of our farmers and youth. In a recent video, he has exceeded all limits of dishonesty and made unfounded claims. He is deceiving our farmers with his false narrative and attempting to incite our Annadatas. He has never prioritized our motherland, nor can we expect him to contribute to a strong and prosperous future for India,” Goyal asserted.

Defending the government's stance, the Commerce Minister emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently prioritized farmers' welfare. “PM Modi has always displayed empathy towards our Kisan brothers and sisters. He has consistently placed farmers' interests at the forefront and made decisions aimed at ensuring their success. Modi ji has initiated several schemes that have transformed the lives of millions of farmers,” he remarked.

Regarding the interim trade framework with the United States, Goyal assured that farmers' interests were safeguarded.

“In the recent trade agreement with the US, the interests of farmers have been placed as a top priority and fully protected. This agreement covers all major crops, including wheat, millets, soya milk, corn, and spices,” he stated.

Goyal also pointed out the potential for increased exports.

“The reality is that many of our products, including Basmati rice, fruits, spices, tea, and marine products, will discover new markets, elevate our exports, and enhance farmer incomes. We have unlocked vast markets for cotton textile exports. Every decision made in this trade deal serves the best interests of 1.4 billion Indians, including our farmers and youth,” he added.

He emphasized that the deal would lead to elevated exports and heightened demand, ultimately benefiting farmers with improved prices.

“I want to reassure all farmers that your interests are fully secured today and will always be preserved. The US trade deal will benefit our farmers through increased exports of agricultural products and heightened demand, leading to higher prices and sustained prosperity,” he concluded.

In a pointed reminder to the Congress leader, Goyal added, “Let me remind you, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, no matter how many lies you propagate or efforts you make to mislead our farmers or tarnish our nation, a proud, prosperous, and powerful India is achievable under PM Modi's leadership.”
