New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday criticized the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for causing confusion regarding the India-US trade agreement. He asserted that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation’s agricultural producers are secure, capable, and robust.

In a post on the social media platform X, Chouhan stated, “Under the leadership of our esteemed Prime Minister Modi ji, the country’s agricultural providers are safe, capable, and strong.”

He accused Gandhi of disseminating false information and misleading the public.

Rahul Gandhi is a deceiver who shows no regard for the nation or the farmers. He has consistently shown disdain for the strength of our farmers and frequently makes anti-national remarks. His lies are an attempt to mislead the nation,” Chouhan asserted.

The Union Minister emphasized that PM Modi has consistently prioritized farmers and made decisions that favor their welfare.

“The Prime Minister is always concerned about the farmers. All of his initiatives have been aimed at improving their circumstances. His programs have transformed farmers' lives,” he explained.

Regarding the interim trade framework with the United States, Chouhan asserted that farmers' interests were safeguarded and essential sectors protected.

“In our trade dealings with the US, we have ensured the protection of farmers' interests. We have secured the farmers of vital crops such as wheat and millets. Producers of fruits and vegetables are also defended. We have not compromised on poultry, dairy, and their by-products,” he noted.

He added that the agreement would open new market opportunities for various Indian agricultural goods.

“Our spice farmers will access larger markets. Products like spices, coffee, tea, and seafood will find new buyers. These developments will enhance farmers' income streams and benefit textile exports as well,” Chouhan stated.

Reaffirming his support for the Modi administration, Chouhan mentioned that every decision made by the Prime Minister is focused on empowering farmers and fostering a self-reliant India.

“Every decision by PM Modi is in favor of the farmers. Lies spread by Rahul Gandhi will not aid the farmers. No matter how many times you lie or create uncertainty, under PM Modi's leadership, we will build a magnificent, proud, wealthy, and self-reliant India. Modi Hai To Mumkin Hai,” he remarked.

In the meantime, intensifying his criticism of the Modi government, LoP Gandhi declared on Thursday that he would not be intimidated by any FIR, criminal case, or privilege motion and reiterated his commitment to advocating for farmers' rights.

In a video posted on X, Gandhi reiterated his opposition to the India-US trade deal, claiming it would have severe repercussions for Indian farmers. He accused PM Modi of “opening the doors” of India’s agricultural market to foreign entities at the expense of local producers.

“I have voiced the truth in Parliament. If you dislike the truth, that’s another issue. The nation understands the reality. Do whatever you wish — file an FIR, register a case, or bring forth a privilege motion. I and my entire party stand with the farmers,” Gandhi affirmed.

He cautioned that any trade agreement threatening farmers' livelihoods or undermining the nation’s food security is fundamentally anti-farmer. Gandhi also predicted that corn, soybean, cotton, and fruit growers would be the first to suffer the consequences. He further alleged that the government would ultimately expose the entire farming sector to foreign interests and corporate partners.

Point of View

It is essential to recognize the diverging perspectives presented by political leaders. While Union Minister Chouhan emphasizes the government's commitment to farmer welfare, Opposition Leader Gandhi raises valid concerns about the potential impacts on local agriculture. As the discussion unfolds, it is crucial for the nation to remain informed and engaged in dialogues that affect the livelihoods of millions.
