Patna, April 17 (NationPress) As the Bihar Assembly elections draw nearer, all attention is focused on Patna, where the inaugural official meeting of the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) parties is set to take place on Thursday.
The primary focus will be on finalizing the alliance's strategy, establishing a unified agenda, and potentially endorsing Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate for the coalition.
This meeting is scheduled to occur at the RJD state office in Patna at 1:00 PM, with discussions revolving around election strategies, seat sharing, and the Common Minimum Programme.
Additionally, the meeting is expected to finalize decisions regarding the chief ministerial candidate for the Grand Alliance, establish a coordination framework among allies, and formulate a joint action plan to counter the NDA.
According to RJD insiders, attendees will include Tejashwi Yadav, Rajya Sabha MPs Manoj Jha and Sanjay Yadav, Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru, state president Rajesh Ram, Dipankar Bhattacharya of the CPI-ML, Mukesh Sahani of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), and leaders from CPI and CPI(M).
The Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), led by Pashupati Kumar Paras, has not received an invitation for this meeting.
Despite exiting the NDA recently, the RLJP has yet to formally join the Grand Alliance.
While the RJD has announced Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate, the Congress remains undecided.
However, insiders suggest that a consensus may develop today favoring Tejashwi’s leadership in the state.
Key topics to be addressed include the Waqf (Amendment) Act, which could serve as a rallying point to mobilize minority votes, the demand for 65 percent reservation, issues of social justice to counter the NDA’s agenda, economic challenges, unemployment, and the NDA’s track record on education, health, and governance.
The Mahagathbandhan leaders may also strategize for joint rallies and campaigns, declare a shared manifesto, and establish campaign themes.
They plan to initiate seat-sharing discussions following the consensus on leadership and scheduling future coordination meetings.
This meeting is regarded as a vital step towards strengthening Opposition unity in Bihar.
If the Grand Alliance manages to present a cohesive front under Tejashwi’s leadership, it could pose a significant challenge to the NDA in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
