Gandhinagar, February 13 (NationPress) A dialogue on collaboration in the small and medium enterprise sector took place between Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and a delegation from Zimbabwe in Gandhinagar on Friday.
The delegation, spearheaded by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Maldives, Stella Nkomo, alongside the Deputy Minister for Industry and Commerce, Rajendra Kumar Modi, is in Gujarat to engage in the 12th Trade Show organized by the Saurashtra Trade and Industry Association in Ahmedabad from February 11 to 15.
During their meeting, both parties examined avenues for Zimbabwe’s Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector to leverage the skills and resources of Gujarat’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem.
The discussions centered around partnerships in skill development, training initiatives, and bolstering institutional capacities.
The Ambassador and Deputy Minister highlighted Gujarat's evolution as a manufacturing and automobile hub, now also becoming a semiconductor powerhouse, while sustaining a robust MSME framework.
They expressed Zimbabwe’s eagerness to learn from Gujarat’s expertise to aid in the advancement and modernization of its SME sector.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conveyed Gujarat’s willingness to explore concrete cooperation opportunities.
He pointed out that potential areas of collaboration could include enhancing SME capabilities, structured skill development programs, and training partnerships aimed at improving technical skills.
The delegation also expressed interest in strengthening ties within the education domain.
They acknowledged that law enforcement and security personnel from Zimbabwe are currently pursuing higher education in fields such as security and cybercrime at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gandhinagar.
The Chief Minister extended an invitation to Zimbabwe to participate in the forthcoming Vibrant Summit-2027 and the next edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference to further enhance economic collaboration.
In return, the Ambassador and Deputy Minister invited Gujarat’s MSME entrepreneurs and state officials to join an SME exhibition planned in Zimbabwe in March this year.
They noted that interactions with SME stakeholders and site visits to industries would create avenues for technology-driven development in Zimbabwe’s SME landscape.
