Gandhinagar, Feb 12 (NationPress) Over 15.27 lakh students from Gujarat are set to take the Class 10 and 12 board examinations starting on February 26, following a thorough assessment of readiness conducted by the state government in Gandhinagar.
The review meeting held on Thursday, led by Education Minister Dr. Pradyuman Vaja at the Vidya Samiksha Kendra, included the presence of Minister of State for Education Rivaba Jadeja, senior officials from the Education Department, members of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), and high-ranking police officials.
As per the timetable established by GSHSEB, over 9 lakh students will participate in the Class 10 examinations from February 26 to March 18. Concurrently, more than 5 lakh students from the Class 12 General Stream will also take their exams.
The Class 12 Science Stream examinations, which involve more than 1.19 lakh candidates, are scheduled from February 26 to March 16.
Moreover, over 1.35 lakh students are anticipated to appear for the GUJCET-2026 examination.
Dr. Vaja emphasized that the Education Department has made all necessary arrangements to provide students with a “friendly and stress-free environment” during their exams.
He reviewed district-level coordination and praised the efforts of Collectors, District Development Officers, Superintendents of Police, and District Education Officers in ensuring overall preparedness.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ initiative, he mentioned, “Examinations should be celebrated like a 'festival', as it is crucial for students to remain free from mental stress and anxiety during this period.”
Rivaba Jadeja instructed officials to investigate past incidents and assure that no adverse events transpire this year.
She remarked, “Districts and centers identified through the analysis of the 2025 examination results that require special attention must be vigilant.”
Additionally, she called for first-aid teams to be positioned at examination centers to assist students facing anxiety or health issues during the exams.
Metal detectors will be deployed in sensitive districts and centers to screen for mobile phones, smartwatches, or other electronic devices that candidates may inadvertently bring.
Statewide, the exams will take place across 146 zones, 1,701 centers, 5,565 buildings, and 53,764 blocks. GUJCET-2026 will be conducted in 34 zones, 34 centers, 658 buildings, and 6,803 blocks.
Armed police personnel will secure question paper strong rooms, and transport arrangements along with uninterrupted power supply have been organized to facilitate the smooth execution of the examinations.
