The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Monday, 4 May 2026, officially declared the Class 12 (HSC) board examination results for 2026, with the General stream recording a pass percentage of 92.71% and the Science stream at 84.33%. The results were announced in Gandhinagar by state Education Minister Dr Pradyuman Vaja, in the presence of Minister of State for Education Rivaba Jadeja.

Key Figures at a Glance

More than 5.01 lakh students across Gujarat appeared for the Class 12 board examinations, which were held between 26 February and mid-March 2026 across Science, General, and Vocational streams. In the Science stream, 1,18,256 students appeared at 156 centres, of whom more than 93,000 passed. The Science stream pass percentage improved by one percentage point compared to last year. In the General stream, more than four lakh students appeared, though the overall pass rate of 92.71% marked a marginal decline of one percentage point from the previous year.

Girls Outperform Boys Across Streams

In the Science stream, girls recorded a pass percentage of 84.65%, slightly ahead of boys at 84.04%. In the General stream, girls outperformed significantly, posting a pass rate of 95.41%, while regular students overall recorded 90.10%. This pattern of girls outperforming boys is consistent with recent Gujarat board trends.

District and Centre-Level Highlights

At the Science stream level, Morbi district led with 94.85%, while Dahod ranked lowest at 57.44%. The highest-performing centre was Kumbhariya in Banaskantha district at 98.62%, while Dahod recorded the lowest centre-level result at 42.98%. Group-wise Science results stood at 90.79% for Group A, 79.87% for Group B, and 64.44% for the AB Group.

In the General stream, Dang-Ahwa district recorded the highest pass percentage at 97.88%, while Ahmedabad city reported the lowest at 87.10%. A total of 2,030 schools achieved 100% results, while 13 schools recorded less than 10% pass rates. Top-performing centres included Tadava, Kotda Kagwai, and Prashnavada, all with 100% results, while Karath recorded the lowest at 64.88%. In the Science stream, 209 schools achieved 100% results.

Malpractice Cases and GUJCET Results

The board reported 15 malpractice cases in the Science stream and 164 in the General stream. A total of 36 students in Science and 612 specially-abled candidates in the General stream passed by securing the minimum qualifying marks of 20%.

Alongside the HSC results, GUJCET 2026 results were also released. In Group A, 695 students scored above the 99 percentile, and 1,233 crossed the 98 percentile. In Group B, 764 students scored above the 99 percentile, and 1,563 crossed the 98 percentile.

Students can check their results on the official GSHSEB website using their seat numbers. The board has also enabled result access via SMS — by sending GJ12S (Science) or GJ12G (General) followed by the seat number to 58888111 — and via WhatsApp by sending the seat number to 6357300971. Officials have cautioned students to rely only on official sources and avoid fraudulent links. The process for merit lists and admissions to engineering, pharmacy, and other higher education courses is set to commence following the result declaration.
