A total of twelve students were honored for their achievements in state-wide essay and elocution contests aimed at raising anti-corruption awareness.
During the ceremony organized by the Gujarat ACB in observance of International Anti-Corruption Day, Chief Minister Patel emphasized that the principle of resisting unjust gains is deeply embedded in India’s cultural and moral heritage.
He asserted that true duty is evident when individuals derive genuine satisfaction from their honest efforts.
Patel stressed that the ACB should maintain a robust and vigilant reputation, ensuring that anyone contemplating misconduct fears the repercussions, thereby fostering an environment where corruption cannot thrive.
Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi reiterated Gujarat’s firm stance against corruption under the current administration, pointing out the significant number of mandatory retirements in recent years as a testament to the CM’s stringent measures.
He commended the ACB for targeting not just lower-tier officials but also high-ranking government personnel.
In the last three years, the ACB has apprehended 34 Class-I and 98 Class-II officers, filed 194 cases this year alone, and detained 277 suspects. Sanghavi also highlighted the need to utilize technology, including AI, to enhance monitoring systems and optimize responses to corruption allegations.
Chief Secretary M.K. Das remarked that corruption is a worldwide issue, not confined to India, and significantly hinders development, particularly affecting the underprivileged.
He stated that under CM Patel's guidance, Gujarat has implemented notable reforms, streamlining regulations, enhancing the business climate, and revising revenue laws to minimize corruption opportunities.
During the event, ACB Director Piyush Patel elaborated on the wide-ranging awareness initiatives conducted during 'Vigilance Awareness Week', which included essay and elocution competitions in educational institutions, street plays, marathons, integrity pledges in government offices, and public outreach promoting the ACB helpline 1064.
The program was graced by senior officials, including Vigilance Commissioner Sangeeta Singh, CID Crime & Railways DGP Dr K.L.N. Rao, NFSU Vice Chancellor Dr J.M. Vyas, ACB staff, students, and citizens who bravely reported instances of corruption.
