Ahmedabad, Oct 1 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, visited the Sardar Sarovar Dam on Wednesday to offer prayers to the sacred Narmada River during the auspicious occasion of Maha Navami of Sharad Navratri, a festival dedicated to the worship of the primordial energy of the universe.
Recently, the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam has achieved its full capacity for the sixth time since its inauguration in 2017.
According to a government statement, “The water level at the Sardar Sarovar Dam has peaked at 138.68 meters (or 455 feet), symbolizing a significant agricultural and revolutionary milestone for Gujarat.”
The Chief Minister conducted a ‘Jal Pujan’ with Vedic chanting amidst a celebratory atmosphere, praying for the health and prosperity of all residents.
He also shared on social media, “On the auspicious day of Maha Navami, the water level of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, the heart of the Narmada Yojana and lifeline of Gujarat, has reached its maximum of 138.68 meters. I visited Ektanagar to pay my respects to Mother Narmada and worship her with Vedic mantras.”
Notably, this dam supplies drinking water to over 40 million people across Gujarat, encompassing 10,453 villages, 190 cities, and seven municipal corporations.
The Chief Minister also assessed the arrangements for the Ekta Day Parade at the Statue of Unity and engaged with visitors to gather their feedback.
The Ekta Diwas Parade is celebrated annually on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
“This year, the Ekta Parade will be held to mark the special occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. I visited the parade site to review the various programs planned for the celebration of Ekta Day and provided essential guidance to officials,” CM Patel noted in a post on X.
