Ahmedabad, Dec 2 (NationPress) As part of Gujarat’s special intensive revision of the electoral roll, the distribution of enumeration forms to over 5 crore registered voters for the 2025 voter list has been successfully concluded throughout the state.
The enumeration phase of this initiative will proceed until December 11.
This drive is being conducted under the supervision of the Election Commission of India, with Chief Electoral Officer Harit Shukla overseeing the operations. The office of the CEO is closely collaborating with district election officers and ground staff to facilitate the process.
The digitization of enumeration forms is advancing swiftly across Gujarat, with four assembly constituencies—Dhanera and Tharad in Banaskantha, Limkheda in Dahod, and Dhoraji in Rajkot—having achieved complete digitization.
At the district level, Dang leads the state with a remarkable 93.55 percent digitization rate, followed by Gir Somnath, Morbi, and Sabarkantha. The top ten districts showing progress include Dang (93.55 percent), Gir Somnath (89.62 percent), Morbi (89.07 percent), Sabarkantha (89.00 percent), Banaskantha (88.96 percent), Mahisagar (88.91 percent), Chhota Udepur (88.81 percent), Panchmahal (87.88 percent), Aravalli (87.67 percent), and Surendranagar (87.45 percent).
The verification process has uncovered significant inconsistencies in the voter list.
Approximately 16 lakh deceased voters remain enrolled, while over 4.40 lakh voters were found absent from their registered addresses.
Moreover, more than 23 lakh voters have permanently moved, and around 2.82 lakh entries were identified as duplicates.
The CEO has praised the diligent efforts of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across Gujarat, whose thorough work has enhanced the accuracy of the state’s voter rolls.
BLOs encountering challenges have been encouraged to reach out to their local offices for assistance. This special intensive revision of the electoral roll is vital for ensuring that the voter list is precise, current, and reflective of the actual electorate.
By identifying and removing deceased, duplicate, absent, or relocated voters, and by verifying active voters through enumeration, this process fortifies the integrity of elections.
A clean and error-free electoral roll mitigates impersonation, diminishes the risk of fraud, ensures that eligible citizens retain their voting rights, and bolsters the credibility and transparency of the democratic process.
