Gandhinagar, Nov 7 (NationPress) The Health Minister of Gujarat, Praful Pansheriya, has taken decisive action against hospitals breaching the rules of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-Maa Amritam (PMJAY-MA) scheme.
Minister Pansheriya conducted a thorough review of the reports and instructed Health Secretary Dhananjay Dwivedi and departmental officials to initiate swift action against non-compliant hospitals.
After unannounced inspections, two hospitals faced suspension, while two others received show-cause notices due to significant irregularities and negligence under this flagship public healthcare initiative.
The Health Department underlined the state government’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, transparent, and compassionate healthcare to the underprivileged and middle-class citizens via PMJAY-MA.
Minister Pansheriya emphasized the government’s 'zero tolerance' policy towards malpractice and inhumane treatment, stating, "If any hospital neglects its sacred duty to serve humanity, the strictest actions will follow."
During these surprise inspections, the Health Department penalized four hospitals for serious violations of the PMJAY-MA scheme.
Deep Children Hospital and Neonatal Care in Godhra, Panchmahal, was suspended after officials discovered that it did not comply with the necessary standards for prenatal and neonatal intensive care units.
The facility was found with expired medicines, lacked an available MBBS doctor, and had no beneficiary information kiosk.
Additionally, infection control protocols were disregarded.
Similarly, Kashima Hospital in Bharuch (HOSP24T170981) was also suspended for not adhering to neonatal and prenatal intensive care unit standards and for poor infection control measures.
Inspectors identified the absence of an information kiosk, unqualified nursing staff, and no medical officer on duty until noon.
The hospital also did not have the necessary building use permission and fire no objection certificate.
Meanwhile, Maa Children and General Hospital in Kalol, Panchmahal (HOSP24T132829) received a show-cause notice for failing to install a beneficiary information kiosk as mandated by the scheme.
Lastly, Maa Children and Neonatal Care in Devgadh Baria, Dahod (HOSP24T148571) was also issued a show-cause notice after expired medicines were discovered in its neonatal intensive care unit.
The hospital refused to provide CCTV footage and did not display a kiosk with scheme-related information for patients and their families.
Minister Pansheriya stated that the government’s primary objective is to enhance transparency, accountability, and service quality within Gujarat’s healthcare system.
"Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the government is committed to ensuring that every citizen—especially the poor and needy—receives fair and dignified treatment," he added.
Reiterating his firm stance, the Minister affirmed, "Any hospital found participating in malpractice or acting contrary to the spirit of humanity will face the strictest disciplinary actions from the state government."
