Nirag Choksi, Co-Convenor of the Manufacturing Panel at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Director of Tacklers Engineering Pvt Ltd, remarked that the Budget conveys a positive message to the economy.
“This has been an excellent Budget. The comprehensive framework outlined by the Finance Minister for each sector ensures the country's progress,” Choksi stated in an interview with IANS.
He emphasized the year-on-year decrease in the fiscal deficit as a promising indicator of macroeconomic stability.
Choksi highlighted the significant attention given to public healthcare, especially through initiatives for individuals with disabilities and mental health programs.
He noted the funding designated for the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), mentioning that the holistic approach to Ayurveda, yoga, and comprehensive healthcare signifies a broader and more inclusive vision.
Moreover, he welcomed initiatives aimed at subsidizing new cancer medications, deeming them vital for the general populace.
Regarding agriculture, Choksi observed the emphasis on promoting new and high-value crops. He referenced support extended to coconut growers in Andhra Pradesh and initiatives tied to export-oriented crops and products like saffron and sandalwood.
He also praised proposals aimed at fortifying Ayurvedic institutions and advancing traditional medical practices as vital steps toward harnessing India’s indigenous capabilities.
On the manufacturing front, Choksi asserted that the sector is on a growth trajectory and is being bolstered through targeted interventions in defense, aerospace, railways, roads, and overall infrastructure.
He mentioned that the drive for development in tier-II and tier-III cities, alongside new skill institutes, ports, and aerospace facilities, coupled with support for repair and ancillary units, will bolster the industrial ecosystem.
“This is a time to feel optimistic, endorse the Budget, and advance with diligent effort and careful assessment,” he concluded.
Jayanth Murthy, Co-Convenor of the Manufacturing Panel and Joint Managing Director of Kaizen Institute SAIN LLP, noted that the Budget has significantly emphasized ease of doing business.
“This is crucial as it can relieve taxation burdens and simplify processes for businesses and entrepreneurs,” Murthy shared with IANS.
