Gujarat Enhances Government Services with AI Integration
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Gandhinagar, Feb 26 (NationPress) Government institutions in Gujarat are experiencing a significant overhaul through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), which signifies a new era in the state's quest for efficient and transparent governance.
Administrative tasks that previously required several days are now being accomplished at the click of a button, indicating a transition towards more rapid and intelligent administrative operations.
To support this initiative, Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL) has been designated as the principal agency, while the AI Centre of Excellence in GIFT City is supplying the technological backbone for implementing AI solutions across various government sectors.
“The introduction of AI has drastically altered the functioning of government offices. There is a marked reduction in manual processes, increased speed of operations, and enhanced transparency,” stated Ankit Suthar, Manager of E-Governance at GIL.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, AI technologies are being utilized in several essential fields, including crime management, building approvals, agriculture, forestry, and citizen services.
This technology allows departments to make quicker decisions while minimizing the need for citizens to repeatedly visit government offices.
“AI is instrumental in optimizing operations and reducing wait times, which is advantageous for both officials and the public,” added Suthar.
The AI Centre of Excellence is also collaborating with startups to devise innovative solutions for government departments.
Currently, 19 startups are focused on developing AI-driven applications, and more than 350 senior officials throughout the state have undergone specialized training in AI.
Experts from prominent tech companies, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and NASSCOM, are providing mentorship during these training sessions, elucidating the practical applications of AI in public administration.
These initiatives are designed to bolster Gujarat’s administrative efficacy and foster technology-led governance.
The incorporation of AI into everyday operations underscores the state government’s commitment to modernizing processes while ensuring efficiency, accountability, and transparency.
GIL, the state’s principal IT agency, was established in 1999 to promote e-governance efforts.
Moreover, the AI Centre of Excellence has supported and incubated over 1,000 startups and MSMEs to date, with 10 startups currently operating directly at the Centre.
