Ahmedabad, Sep 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, on Thursday, unveiled the state's ambitious vision to enhance regional development through the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences (VGRCs), aiming to position Gujarat as a pivotal contributor in India's journey towards a $3.5 trillion economy by 2047.
During a meeting with industry leaders, diplomats, and senior officials from the central government in Delhi, CM Patel emphasized that this initiative would extend the legacy of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) to every district within the state.
“Certain regions have such remarkable potential that their production exceeds that of entire states. VGRC will reveal these opportunities by linking investors directly with regional ecosystems, facilitating the growth of MSMEs and ancillary industries,” Patel remarked.
He underscored Gujarat's significant contribution of 8.5% to India's GDP, 18% of its industrial output, and nearly 27% of the nation's exports, attributing the transformation of the state's economic and social landscape over the last two decades to the Vibrant Summit model.
CM Patel outlined Gujarat's industrial roadmap, highlighting forthcoming projects, including GIFT City, Dholera SIR, Mandal–Becharaji SIR, greenfield ports, LNG terminals, and new industrial parks such as PM-MITRA, Bulk Drug Park, Medical Device Park, and Agro Food Park.
These initiatives, he stated, would fortify Gujarat's position as India's portal to global investors. The inaugural VGRC is scheduled in Mehsana on October 9–10, followed by quarterly editions in Rajkot (Kutch-Saurashtra), Surat (South Gujarat), and Vadodara (Central Gujarat).
Each regional conference will feature trade shows, exhibitions, and sectoral seminars to showcase local strengths and promote global partnerships.
“The theme of VGRC — Regional Aspirations, Global Ambitions — echoes the Prime Minister's Vocal for Local initiative, propelling Atmanirbhar Bharat and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047,” Patel further added.
Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary of DPIIT, remarked that the regional focus would serve as “a platform to showcase local strengths, stimulate grassroots development, and align local ambitions with the broader vision of a Developed India by 2047.”
The event attracted ambassadors, high commissioners, and delegates from around 50 countries.
Gujarat Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop, and Industries & Mines Principal Secretary Mamta Verma also spoke at the gathering, with Verma providing detailed insights into the VGRCs.
