Gandhinagar, May 22 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has unveiled an extensive revision of its industrial policy framework, aligning it with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ and the state’s developmental objective of ‘Viksit Gujarat se Viksit Bharat’.
This initiative seeks to establish a data-driven, future-ready policy environment that draws in investments, nurtures innovation, and promotes sustained socio-economic advancement.
As per an official announcement, 12 specialized task force committees have been formed to lead this transformation.
These panels will evaluate current policies, compare them with international standards, pinpoint policy deficiencies, and develop strategies to adapt to changing economic and technological landscapes.
The sector-focused committees will concentrate on areas such as MSME development, industrial infrastructure, environmental regulations, trade and commerce, skill enhancement, and priority sectors like aerospace, defense, startups, and research and development.
A specific committee has been established to improve the ease of doing business and revitalize struggling industrial units. Each committee comprises members from industry associations, academic bodies, chambers of commerce, and research organizations to ensure a comprehensive and collaborative policy formulation process.
Insights and suggestions from these committees will lay the groundwork for Gujarat’s forward-looking industrial policies, positioning the state as a pivotal player in India’s quest to become a developed nation by 2047, as stated.
Currently, Gujarat is governed by the Gujarat Industrial Policy 2020, which remains in effect until August 2025. This policy aims to enhance the state’s manufacturing ecosystem and attract investments across diverse sectors.
It offers incentives for 15 identified priority sectors, including core industries like electrical machinery, auto components, and pharmaceuticals, as well as emerging sectors such as electric vehicles, green energy, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
The policy provides capital subsidies of up to 12 percent of fixed capital investment for large and mega projects, disassociating incentives from the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) to deliver direct financial assistance.
Moreover, it underscores the ease of doing business through regulatory reforms, single-window clearances, and simplified land acquisition procedures. Support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), research and development, skill enhancement, and equitable regional growth are also crucial elements of the policy.
