Gandhinagar, March 16 (NationPress) - The Gujarat government has initiated thorough preparations for the forthcoming Uttarvahini Panchkoshi Narmada Parikrama, which is set to commence on March 19 and will run until April 17.
This month-long pilgrimage is considered a vital spiritual journey within Indian culture, drawing thousands of devotees who will walk around the sacred Narmada River.
Officials have highlighted the government's strategy of merging faith with safety. The state administration is dedicated to offering extensive facilities to ensure a secure and convenient experience for all participants.
The Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board (GPYVB) has been assigned the task of managing the arrangements along the entire 30 km route. Infrastructure developments, estimated to cost around Rs 10 crore, have been implemented.
Temporary amenities, financed at about Rs 5.41 crore, will include dome shelters, mobile toilets, water stations, medical units with 24-hour ambulances, seating arrangements with cots and mattresses, bathing facilities, changing rooms, and cloakrooms. Service centres and shops are also being established along the route.
Permanent facilities, created at a cost of Rs 5.07 crore, will feature paved walkways, facility centres, solar-powered lights, toilets, drinking water access, drainage systems, and upgraded accommodations for pilgrims at crucial sites like Shri Madhi Devasthan, Shri Siddhatekari Ram Kund, and Shri Balbala Kund.
The government is implementing measures to uphold hygiene and cleanliness throughout the pilgrimage. Separate toilets and bathing areas for men and women, continuous water supply, effective drainage, and regular housekeeping across multiple shifts have been organized to assure a safe and clean environment.
In preparation for large crowds, security measures have been intensified. Police booths, security cabins, and watchtowers are being installed, with trained personnel operating in shifts.
Advanced technology, including infrared and RFID-based headcount systems, will monitor movement along the route. Ample lighting through LEDs and floodlights, sound systems, wireless communication, and CCTV surveillance will be deployed to guarantee the security and smooth execution of the pilgrimage.
These preparations underscore the government's dedication to maintaining Gujarat's cultural and religious heritage while integrating modern facilities for devotees.
