Gurugram, Jan 24 (NationPress) A team from the crime branch of the Gurugram Police apprehended five notorious criminals following an encounter on the night between Thursday and Friday along Golf Course Extension Road, as reported by officials.
The suspects were in the city with the intent to carry out a theft, according to police on Friday.
Police received a tip-off about four to five young individuals approaching Golf Course Extension Road armed with illegal weapons while traveling in a CNG auto-rickshaw to execute a crime.
Acting on this information, a police team set up a blockade on Golf Course Extension Road from Village Ghata to Faridabad Road. Shortly after, an auto-rickshaw that lacked a number plate approached the police checkpoint. When officers signaled the driver to stop, he attempted to flee, accelerating and colliding with the barricade and police vehicle.
According to Inspector Vishwa Gaurav, In-Charge of Crime Branch Sector-39, “Five individuals exited the auto-rickshaw and began firing at the police before fleeing into the nearby forest. One bullet struck the bulletproof vest of the Crime Branch officer, while another hit the police car's window.”
The police issued warnings for the suspects to surrender, but they continued firing. In the exchange of gunfire, two of the suspects were hit in the legs and subsequently apprehended, while the other three were captured from the auto-rickshaw.
The suspects were identified as Hoshiyar Khan (22), Biladin alias Billa (22), both hailing from Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Shahrukh (23), Mohammad Naseem (23), and Salim alias Shami (22), a resident of Nuh. The police took immediate action to hospitalize Hoshiyar Khan and Biladin alias Billa, who sustained bullet injuries.
A case was registered against the suspects under the appropriate sections at the Police Station Sector-56, Gurugram. During the encounter, a total of eight rounds were fired, with four from the suspects and four from the police. The authorities recovered the auto-rickshaw utilized in the crime, along with two country-made pistols, a pistol, five live cartridges, and eight empty shell casings.
During questioning, the suspects confessed to being involved in another theft incident in Gurugram. After reviewing their criminal backgrounds, it was discovered that Biladin had five theft cases and was also implicated under the Uttar Pradesh Gangster Act, while Hoshiyar had four theft cases along with Gangster Act charges in Uttar Pradesh.
“Hoshiyar Khan and Biladin alias Billa are currently receiving medical treatment. Upon their discharge from the hospital, they will be arrested according to regulations for the aforementioned cases and subjected to thorough interrogation,” the inspector stated.
