Gurugram: Leopard Enters Residential Complex in Sohna, Causes Alarm

Gurugram, Jan 12 (NationPress) A leopard entered a residential complex in Gurugram's Sohna, causing alarm among the residents.

The security personnel at the Ashiana Society first spotted the animal on Saturday night and promptly notified their superiors, who then contacted the Forest Department.

A rescue team from the Forest Department, including Inspector Krishan Kumar, Forest Officer Jyoti Kumar, and wildlife advocate Anil Gandas, arrived on the scene to safely capture the big cat.

The leopard was apprehended without the use of a tranquilizer.

"There was limited space where the leopard was positioned. Due to this constraint, the animal could not flee. The trap was set at the entrance, and the leopard was captured effortlessly," stated Krishna Kumar.

"We received the alert around 2 a.m. It was a male leopard, which likely entered the residential area in search of food. It was safely released in the Aravali region at 6 a.m. on Sunday," reported Anil Gandas.

The Ashiana Society is situated close to the Aravalli hills. Animals frequently wander into urban areas in quest of food. Fortunately, the leopard was unharmed.

Importantly, the Haryana government is planning to construct a Jungle Safari in the Aravali region.

For this initiative, Forest Department officials will gather comprehensive information about five jungle safaris across India and one in Singapore to assess the available facilities.

Following this research, the development of the Aravali Jungle Safari will commence. The government aims to offer more amenities than those found in other locations to attract tourists both domestically and internationally.

The state government has transferred the project's oversight from the Tourism Department to the Forest Department to expedite progress on the project.
