New Delhi, Nov 22 (NationPress) The Chairperson of the Haj Committee of India (HCoI), Dr Chandra Shekhar Kumar, emphasized the importance of implementing comprehensive digital solutions to support pilgrims throughout their journey, from the application phase to post-pilgrimage services, thereby enhancing their Haj 2026 experience, as stated by an official.

During a national conference that spanned the entire day, Dr Kumar, who also serves as the Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), initiated dialogues focusing on strategies to optimize and enrich the pilgrimage experience for Haj 2026.

The conference commenced with a moment of silence to honor the pilgrims who tragically lost their lives in a bus accident in Medina on November 17, according to an official statement.

In his remarks, Dr Kumar mandated the HCoI to transition all Haj-related operations to a fully digital, portal-based, and AI-driven framework, thereby abolishing manual processes.

He highlighted that in a time of advanced technology, the priority must be on efficient and transparent service delivery.

Dr Kumar stressed the necessity of strong digital systems to provide support to pilgrims from the application phase all the way through to post-Haj services, ensuring easy access to information, assistance, and financial transactions.

Additionally, Dr Kumar directed the HCoI to process an immediate refund of 75 percent of all outstanding dues to Haj pilgrims, with the final 25 percent to be settled post-verification and audit.

He encouraged the Committee to enlist a professional Financial Management Services (FMS) firm to oversee accounting tasks and offer pilgrims continuous self-service financial transaction support, thereby reinforcing the government's commitment to transparency and accountability.

The gathering included Executive Officers from all State and Union Territory Haj Committees, focusing on enhancing collaboration and synergy between the State/UT Haj Committees and the HCoI to provide top-notch facilities for all Indian Haj pilgrims.

The conference's agenda was filled with vital operational discussions. Significant topics included Accommodation & Logistics, which involved a detailed review of arrangements and coordination with both domestic and Saudi agencies to guarantee timely and comfortable services.

Another key focus was Transportation & Baggage Handling, aimed at improving systems for the smooth movement of pilgrims and establishing safe, efficient baggage protocols.

The preparedness of field staff was also evaluated, particularly concerning the Training of Haj Assistants and Inspectors, emphasizing high standards of service delivery, discipline, and adherence to operational protocols.

Point of View

I believe that the Haj Committee’s commitment to digital transformation reflects a progressive step towards improving the pilgrimage experience.
