New Delhi, Nov 21 (NationPress) The Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) is preparing to host a significant National Haj Conference this Saturday at the Haj House in Mumbai, aimed at finalising the arrangements for the 2026 Haj pilgrimage.

This conference is also focused on ensuring a safe, smooth, and dignified journey for more than 175,000 Indian pilgrims who will undertake this annual journey.

Chaired by Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary of MoMA, this high-level meeting will bring together the Executive Officers from all State and Union Territory Haj Committees. The main objective is to enhance cooperation between the State/UT Haj Committees and the Haj Committee of India (HCoI), thereby providing top-notch facilities to all Indian Haj Yatris.

The agenda of the conference is filled with critical operational elements. Key discussions will revolve around “Accommodation & Logistics”, which includes a detailed assessment of arrangements and collaboration with both domestic and Saudi agencies to ensure timely and comfortable services.

Another focal point is “Transportation & Baggage Handling”, aiming to strengthen systems for the smooth movement of pilgrims and to establish efficient, safe baggage protocols.

The preparedness of field staff will also be evaluated, particularly the “Training of Haj Assistants and Inspectors,” with a strong emphasis on maintaining high standards of service delivery, discipline, and compliance with all operational protocols.

Ensuring the health of pilgrims is of utmost importance; thus, the conference will review “Medical Preparedness,” which includes comprehensive medical screenings, vaccinations, and certification processes in accordance with the guidelines from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Effective coordination and readiness of medical teams will also be a vital point of discussion.

“The conference intends to pinpoint gaps, refine processes, and boost inter-agency collaboration to ensure that Haj 2026 is conducted under the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and care,” stated the Ministry in a press note.

“The Ministry reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the welfare of minority communities and aims to provide world-class facilities for all Indian Haj pilgrims. The outcomes of this conference are expected to significantly enhance the overall readiness for the upcoming Haj season,” it added.
