Chandigarh, Dec 5 (NationPress) Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the need for greater transparency and a public-centered approach in departmental operations during a directive issued to officials on Friday.
He instructed that any tender related to rural development projects posted on the Haryana Engineering Works (HEW) portal must be promptly communicated to the respective sarpanches via SMS. This initiative aims to ensure that rural representatives are informed in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner regarding development activities.
"This will not only enhance monitoring but also improve the quality of project execution. The portal will serve to make tender information accessible to the public, thereby boosting transparency in operations," he remarked.
The Chief Minister chaired a review meeting at the Civil Secretariat to assess the progress of budget announcements from the Development and Panchayat Department for the fiscal year 2025-26.
He urged officials to guarantee that all initiatives aimed at bolstering rural infrastructure are completed promptly. The government aspires to solidify the 'kachha phirnis' of villages with populations exceeding 1,000 to facilitate smooth transportation for residents. It was reported during the meeting that 639 'phirnis' have been finalized, while work on 303 is currently ongoing.
To encourage women's participation and provide them with a designated space for meetings and activities, the government is building 'Mahila Chaupals' in every village. In the initial phase, 754 villages have been earmarked, with the construction of 480 'Mahila Chaupals' already completed and work on the remaining 274 still in progress.
Additionally, it was shared that under the first phase in rural areas, 994 e-libraries have been renovated and equipped. Soon, books and computers will be accessible in these libraries. Furthermore, 415 indoor gyms have been established in rural areas across the state.
The establishment of community halls for various Scheduled Castes is also advancing swiftly in every district. To date, 202 out of 366 panchayats have been completed, while the construction of 140 halls is ongoing.
