Ahmedabad heatwave: AMC distributes ORS, white caps to sanitation staff
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Saturday, 3 May 2025, rolled out additional protective measures for its sanitation workers as temperatures in the city are likely to touch 44 degrees Celsius and an orange alert remains in force. The civic body distributed white caps and oral rehydration solution (ORS) to workers in its Solid Waste Management Department, who carry out outdoor duties across the city daily.
What AMC Has Deployed
As part of the initiative, white caps have been distributed to sanitation workers to shield them from direct sun exposure. The AMC confirmed that this distribution will continue throughout the summer season. Facilities for cold drinking water have also been made available at all zonal and sub-zonal offices to support workers during duty hours.
