Jaipur, July 12 (NationPress) The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across numerous regions in Rajasthan until July 15.
A yellow alert has been raised for 24 districts including Jaipur, Sikar, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Pali, and Udaipur, indicating the potential for moderate to heavy rain on Saturday.
Officials report that two weather systems—one over eastern Madhya Pradesh and another affecting the Haryana area—are currently shaping the weather in the state. The monsoon trough is situated over Suratgarh and Sikar, resulting in heightened rainfall activity.
The Meteorological Department anticipates heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Kota, Udaipur, and Ajmer divisions from July 12 to 14, and similar weather in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions from July 13 to 15.
Further, moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted to persist across various regions of the state on July 16 and 17. In Jaipur, light rain continued until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, while a total of 60 mm of rain was recorded in Sikar's Palsana area over the past 24 hours.
The roadway leading to 'Baniyon Ki Dhani' experienced significant flooding, causing difficulties for commuters and local residents. The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory, urging the public to exercise caution during thunderstorms.
Residents are encouraged to seek shelter in safe locations and to refrain from taking cover under trees, as well as to unplug all electronic devices. People should await improved weather conditions before venturing outside.
On a positive note, the ongoing rainfall has led to an increase in water levels in several reservoirs. The Tidi Dam, approximately 32 km from Udaipur, has experienced a notable inflow, raising its level to 10 feet 8 inches.
In Udaipur, Fatehsagar Lake now contains 7.51 feet of water out of its total capacity of 13 feet, thanks to inflow from Pichola Lake, which has lowered to 9.15 feet. Meanwhile, Tonk's Bisalpur Dam recorded a 2 cm rise in water level as of Saturday morning.
